  • Visit by the AVDC Munch Monster Team

    Fri 22 Nov 2019 Iola Seaton-Reid

This afternoon we welcomed the Munch Monster food recycling team from Aylesbury Vale District  Council.  They explained the importance of food recycling and the process waste foods goes through to produce  both methane gas to generate electricity and nitrogen liquid to fertilize crops.

Three pupils took part in a competition to create a Munch Monster and all children were given stickers to decorate their home recycling bins.

The school is awaiting delivery of a large bin to enable us to recycle all food waste on the premises so we look forward to getting the children on board with this green initiative.

  • UK Astronomy Visit

    Thu 14 Nov 2019 Iola Seaton-Reid

Our visit from UK Astronomy was a fantastic day enjoyed by the pupils and staff alike.  Each class spent time in the hall learning about our solar system.  In the evening we opened our doors to the community for another fascinating presentation.  The skies cleared  and we were treated to a magnificent celestial display through the huge telescopes.

Thank you to Mrs Courtney for arranging such a brilliant day and to Ross and Becks from UK Astronomy.

  • Remembrance Day Commemorations

    Mon 11 Nov 2019 Iola Seaton-Reid

Chiltern House led our Remembrance Day commemorations with poems and prayers.  At 11.00am we observed a minute's silence to reflect and remember those who gave their lives for us.

Two beautiful artworks were created by our pupils.  These were displayed in the St Mary's Church for the community service on 10th November then back at school for our Armistice Day commemorations.

We await to hear how much money was raised by Chiltern House for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal from their cake sale and poppy donations.

  • Visit by the New Mozart Orchestra

    Tue 15 Oct 2019 Iola Seaton-Reid

We were delighted to welcome members of the New Mozart Orchestra to our school this morning.  They told us the story of Hansel and Gretel through the beautiful music by Engelbert Humperdinck and words read by a narrator.  Our pupils had learnt the words to Hansel and Gretel's Dance and sang with the orchestra accompanied by Theo on the piano.

Clive Fairbairn, the orchestra's conductor, also took time to introduce each section of the orchestra to the audience with individual artists talking about their instrument and demonstrating the sound and range.

We were pleased to welcome parents and members of the village to share this very special event.
