Physical Education

At Oakley CE Combined School, our ‘physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.’ (National Curriculum, 2014)

At our school, our children:

  • persevere to develop their competence in order to excel in a broad range of physical activities;
  • are supportive and show compassion towards others when working together;
  • are physically active for sustained periods of time;
  • express their creativity through dance and gymnastics;
  • take pride and show courage when engaging in competitive sports and activities;
  • learn to trust in their own ability and others around them;
  • lead healthy, active lives.

Sport is a vital part of our pupils’ development and we continually strive to challenge the children and extend our provision. Offering a full seasonal PE curriculum, we provide sports clubs throughout the week and maintain several competitive sports teams for our junior children- who compete across the county. Our school works in close partnership with parents and coaches to maintain the broadest balanced education for their child.

‘Premier Sport’ provide coaches for one PE lesson per class each week. They also offer two after school sports clubs, which children can be booked onto on a termly basis.

We work hard to forge links with local schools, sports clubs and leagues. As part of this, the school is part of Buckingham Area School Sports Partnership which strengthens links between schools in friendly and competitive sports, making use of the Sports Premium Funding in providing a high level of physical activity across primary key stages.
