Oakley Church of England Combined School
Love, Honesty, Respect
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Today we were visited by Wildlife Officer PC Dean Kinghan and PCSO Danny Fahy. They spoke to our KS2 children about policing wildlife both locally and internationally. They brought examples of confiscated items including an elephant's tusk and the skin of a boa constrictor. The pupils were very interested in the subject and asked some well thought out questions.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our recent book fair. We have been awarded an incredible £249.99 in commission to spend on books for our library.
Our Children in Need fundraising initiatives raised an incredible £259.80 for the charity. Blenheim House did a great job leading the events with a yellow/spotty mufti, yellow tombola, cake stall and official Pudsey merchandise.
Thank you for your most generous support once again.
Our school showed our respect for the service men and women who have served and are serving our country to keep us safe. We joined a live broadcast assembly led by the Royal British Legion and marked a minute's silence at 11.00am.
Pupils gave donations to the RBL poppy appeal and made displays in each classroom and the school hall.
Today we have shown our support to the Show Racism the Red Card Charity by wearing red to school. Lesson resources produced by the charity have been used in class to teach our children about their message and vision. £73.00 was raised for the charity.
Thank you to our families who supported this important cause.
We had a lovely time this afternoon hosting an afternoon tea in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Chequers House members did a tremendous job welcoming our guests and taking orders for hot drinks and cakes. £129.17 was raised for this most worthwhile cause. Thank you to everyone who came along to support and to those who kindly donated cakes.
Our poor old willow dome was really having a bad hair day!
Our friend Joe, from Living Willow, spent over 12 hours on Wednesday cutting back and re-weaving the willow branches and we now have a beautiful new-look structure. We look forward to watching the leaves grow in spring.
Joe has promised to come back regularly to keep our dome looking gorgeous.
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious PSQM Gilt award for science in school. This is down to the hard work and determination of our science lead Serena Courtney.
Thank you to everyone who helped fill St Mary's Church this morning for our lovely harvest festival service. Also for the kind donations of food items which will be given to our local food bank via Bernie the Bus.
Please follow the link below to the Action Duchenne website and a thank you for our school's support. We raised just under £100.
