Maths

uWe are learning place value of digits, reading and writing numbers to a million/ten million, partitioning and rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, 100000, 1,000,000, quickly moving on to negative numbers, then on to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

uWe will focus on ensuring these key skills are secure because they are essential throughout maths and in other subject areas. The depth of understanding will remain a key aspect of our learning.

uUsing assessment papers from the summer term, gaps have been identified and plans are in place to cover those. This analysis will continue through our assessments and for Year 6, practice papers.

uEnsuring tables and number bonds are known by heart for rapid recall will also be an important aspect of our work as we need to free up working memory to focus on increasingly complex tasks.
