Thursday

Good morning from sunny Devon.  We couldn't have booked better weather for our trip and today we get to go to the beach with all of our friends.  Yesterday there was a welcome breeze up on Dartmoor where we learned about about the Bronze Age civilisation who inhabited the land years ago.  It was difficult to believe they moved off the moor to the edges due to bad weather when we were there without a cloud in the sky.  We even managed to see a real Dartmoor pony.  The guides told us the myth of 'The Hairy Hands' on the way and some of us in Year 6 recognised the story as one we had answered some comprehension questions on during our after school sessions.  Following a hot morning walking with our guide, we had a picnic in the shade of the trees before posing on a clapper bridge for photos and having a quick paddle in the edge of the River Dart to cool our toes.  Another short walk to explore stone rows and circles completed our outing for the day.  Back on the farm, the animals were cuddled thoroughly before we had to put them all safely to bed so we could be ready for dinner. Our evening activity was a falconry display where we met some beautiful birds and saw them fly in the barn.  Everyone we have met has been impressed by the engagement and enthusiasm of our children, their good manners and their ability to answer questions on a wide range of topics.  Everyone has slept well and they are gradually waking up ready for our final day here before we come home to see you tomorrow.  The week has flown by.
