  • Swimathon in aid of Oakley School and Thame Rotary

    Mon 27 Feb 2023 Iola Seaton-Reid

The Oakley Swim Sensations did a tremendous job yesterday representing Oakley School at the Thame Rotary Swimathon.  Harry, Emily, Ariadne, Aoife, Louis and Jessica swam a total of 97 lengths of the pool, that's almost 2.5km!

Counsellor Paul Cowell presented medals to the participants.

Monies raised through sponsorship will be shared between Oakley School and Thame Rotary who support many worthwhile causes.  Thank you to everyone who has donated.  The total currently stands at £325 but it's not to late to top this up!  Just follow the link below:

This was such an enjoyable and well organised event and we plan to enter at least two teams next year.  Anyone over 8 years of age can take part so let me know if you are interested.

  • Strove Tuesday Pancakes

    Tue 21 Feb 2023 Iola Seaton-Reid

Every child enjoyed a pancake to mark Shrove Tuesday today.   RE lessons explained the season of Lent.

Lent is a period of 40 days during which Christians remember the events leading up to and including the death of Jesus Christ, whose life and teachings are the foundation of Christianity.

The 40-day period is called Lent after an old English word meaning 'lengthen'.

This is because of the time of year when it happens, as this is when the days start to get longer, as we approach Summer.

It is a time of reflection and of asking for forgiveness, and when Christians prepare to celebrate Jesus's resurrection at the feast of Easter, which comes at the very end of Lent.

  • Young Voices 2023

    Tue 07 Feb 2023 Iola Seaton-Reid

Yesterday our school choir joined thousands of other children at  Wembley Arena for the Young Voices 2023 concert.  They all did so well singing their hearts out to the medley of songs and joining in the dance moves with the Urban Strides dancers.  We accompanied Heather Small singing 'Proud' and were entertained by the incredibly talented violinist Anna Phoebe and the Beatbox Collective.  Truly a night to remember.

  • Drumming Assembly led by Phil Heard

    Thu 02 Feb 2023 Iola Seaton-Reid

We had a great start to the day this morning when Phil Heard led our collective worship.  Our school drummers got us up on our feet tapping and clapping along to the rhythms.  Thank you Phil for your incredible enthusiasm and skill as such a fabulous drumming teacher.  We look forward to hearing the drummers at OakFest on 10th June.
