    Fri 30 Sep 2022 Iola Seaton-Reid

We had a lovely time this afternoon hosting an afternoon tea in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.  Chequers House members did a tremendous job welcoming our guests and taking orders for hot drinks and cakes.  £129.17 was raised for this most worthwhile cause.  Thank you to everyone who came along to support and to those who kindly donated cakes.

  • Willow Dome Makeover

    Fri 30 Sep 2022 Iola Seaton-Reid

Our poor old willow dome was really  having a bad hair day!

Our friend Joe, from Living Willow, spent over 12 hours on Wednesday cutting back and re-weaving the willow branches and we now have a beautiful new-look structure.  We look forward to watching the leaves grow in spring.

Joe has promised to come back regularly to keep our dome looking gorgeous.

  • Action Duchenne Support

    Fri 16 Sep 2022 Iola Seaton-Reid

One of our pupils was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in September 2021 - just after he turned 7 years old. Due to his late diagnosis and her experience of a lack of support initially his Mum changed her career and started working for a charity called  Action Duchenne. She came into school this morning to thank the school for our support and tell us more about Duchenne and the charities work. We will also be teaching the children age appropriate information about the importance of our muscles in lessons.

    Who are Action Duchenne?

Action Duchenne has a very clear vision: a world where lives are no longer limited by Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

We have three core objectives and are proud to spend 87p in every £1 raised on our charitable activities:

    • Developing effective treatments for all by funding research, supporting clinical trials and campaigning for access.
    • Building a community by uniting and supporting families, educating about Duchenne and raising the profile of the condition.
    • Striving for a more inclusive society promoting the importance of human equality, day to day acceptance of disability and accessibility.

While we hope that research and clinical trials will one day lead to a treatment, or cure, for Duchenne, we believe it is vital to support families living with the condition today. We support families from diagnosis through their whole Duchenne journey.'

  • Queen Elizabeth II

    Fri 09 Sep 2022 Iola Seaton-Reid

We were deeply saddened to hear the news that our dear Queen had died peacefully yesterday.  We held special collective worships this morning and reflected on her life of dedication to our country and the commonwealth during a two minute silence.

The school will be closed on Monday 19th September to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
