Love, Honesty, Respect
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On our first day back from the Easter holidays we welcomed Jennifer from Kapla Clubs UK to Oakley School. Jennifer worked with each class creating some beautiful and spectacular models from thousands of Kapla bricks.
The children worked so well together in small groups carefully placing their bricks. As you will see from the attached, photos some of the structures were very intricate and required a very steady hand!
Rothschild House did a tremendous job raising £445.00 for this year's Red Nose Day campaign. This was achieved by selling almost 100 official red noses and children wore red to school in return for a small donations. After school we held a cake sale selling a fantastic assortment of cakes and biscuits baked and donated by our wonderful families.
Mrs Cochrane raised money by donating a pound each time a child made her laugh with a joke!
Oakley Pre-School also helped towards our magnificent total with their own red mufti day.
Thank you to everyone for your most generous support.
Photos to follow.
Yesterday we welcomed ex Oakley pupils, Tess and Ruby back to Oakley School. Tess shared her published children's book, Foosie, with each class and talked to our older pupils about the inspiration and process for writing and illustrating her book.
If you would like to purchase a copy it is available through Amazon and Waterstones.
23 Oakley pupils travelled up to Birmingham last Friday to join a choir of 5000 strong at Young Voices '24. We all had a fantastic time singing along to the songs we had learnt and also listening to singing star Natalie Williams, rapper MC Grammar and watching the inspiring young drummer Nandi Bushell. We all loved watching Urban Strides perform and were thrilled that Andy took the time to come up to talk to us during a rehearsal break.
All in all a great event which gives our young children the chance to perform in a huge arena space. I am sure they will remember it for a long time to come.
Yesterday our intrepid team of swimmers represented Oakley School at the 2024 Thame Rotary Swimathon at Thame Leisure Centre. They did us proud swimming an incredible 110 lengths in 55 minutes. So far they have raised £195.00, which will be shared between Thame Rotary and our pool maintenance fund. If you are able to make a small donation please use the link below which will be available for another week. Thank you so much for your support and huge thanks to Jess, Megan, Ariadne, Ophelia, James and Josh for swimming so well.

Our pupil, Dougie, will be talking live, accompanied by his mother, Victoria, on Red Kite Radio this coming Sunday 4th February at 10.00am. Please tune in to listen to him talk about how Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy impacts his life and to hear about all the incredible things he has achieved.
The children in Owls and the children who attend our Arts and Crafts Club had a brilliant morning with local artist, Adam Grout, painting tiles for the kitchen area of the new Oakley village and cafe. They look beautiful and it was an honour to be asked to be involved in such a lovely community project.
We were so lucky to have Kimberly from Northern Ballet visit us again today to work with our KS1 children. They focused on the new production of the Tortoise and the Hare which the children thoroughly enjoyed as you can see from the delightful photographs.
We held our very special, candlelit Christingle service in the hall this morning. Thank you to those who came along to celebrate with us. Your donations raised £95.20 for the important work of the Children's Society.
Our Key Stage 2 pupils enjoyed a visit from Andy from Urban Strides who talked about resilience and keys to success. He was so inspiring the staff are now considering new careers in street dance. The children learned about Andy’s journey and he taught them about ‘accepting the challenge’, ‘grabbing opportunities’, ‘practice makes progress’ and surrounding themselves with people who will support and encourage their dreams. Many who have been to Young Voices will know Andy from the dance moves we learn and for performing street dance live on stage as part of the performance. His passion is contagious so let’s hope it inspires our children to follow their dreams.
