In outdoor learning we have learned about making a fire by considering the risks and being prepared, clearing an area, collecting sticks and creating the shape with twigs. Tree recognition was good revision of our learning from last year. You would be amazed just how many adults cannot name trees like our children can. We have collected various colours of leaves, observed the clouds and used our senses to explore our natural world. We have learned to tie knots and created natural bracelets. The beds have all been dug by the children, fresh compost added, raked over and winter cabbages and flowers planted.
We frequently take other lessons outside, making use of our outside space to enhance our learning. It can be easier to rehearse drama outdoors, outdoor active maths has been a regular feature and science frequently lends itself to being outdoors.
